Soulfly
I chanced upon the bass
player before the show and talked to him for few minutes, really nice
guy. Actually getting to know the band members makes me a bit more inclined
to "get" their music. So despite this show being outside of
my usual tastes I found myself enjoying it more than I probably would
have normally.
Shooting it on the other hand was more of a bitch, the light guys lately
seemed to think red is in, which is just for shit when trying to shoot.
Also I'm not liking shooting in the barrier area all that much lately.
the angle annoys me. I'd like to get some height there or get back a
few more feet.. but that was where the pit was so that's a no go for
me and my camera. Maybe part
of the problem is I have to shoot fast fstop which has a very shallow
depth of field which is fine for straight on but when I'm shooting "up"
the artist his DOF is pretty long from guitar to face at that angle.
It can can work really well with a fish eye lens if you have the light
to shoot a bit slower but in most cases it's not feasible.
I didn't do any post processing
again on this stuff, I've been so busy it took me 4 days just to pick
20 something photos to even post and get around to posting them.
On a final note about
this shoot. Check out image 1648 and tell me he doesn't look just like
Jack Black in that shot.
