Sex Pistols Experience It was a cold and rainy night (ok coolish and muggy drizzling, either way it wasn't bike weather), and it was a Wednesday and I thought it'd be Red Room show. Anyone who reads my pages knows how I despise trying to shoot the Red Room. I considered not going and letting Ryan do the shoot alone. But Living Dolls were opening and just how often do I get a chance to see those guys I figure. Imagine my surprise when I got to the Meridian and damned if the show wasn't going to be in the main room, the room with new sound system.. Which by the way is really really freaking loud and painful. I'm going to have to get more earplugs for sure. But I digress. The crowd was sparse but given it was a middle of the week show I kind of expected that. On the other hand they pulled in a lot more people than the Dave Mathews tribute band a couple months ago, so who's to complain. After the Living Dolls did their set, the Sex Pistols Experience took the stage. Well they certainly sounded about right.. Actually that's not really true, they could play their instruments even the bass player and I don't recall Sid Vicious ever being any "good" at that. The looked and sounded the part and the only part missing was an audience that can make the scene complete. Most of the people were probably around when the original band toured, instead of doing the Pogo they were more likely to be using a walker. Photographically speaking
they had shit for lights but that's to be expected.. It's "punk"
not big production lighting and sound type stuff. Despite that I got
some really good stuff, thanks to using a monopod. I'm really missing
the 30mm now. The 50mm just couldn't get the wide enough angle to capture
what I wanted. |
