Sam Bush

For the first time I can recall Sam Bush came to Houston. And for a Houston crowd it wasn't too bad. I don't know the door number but I was pleased. So maybe it'll be enough that he'll come back sometime. While I'm not a big fan of Bluegrass or Newgrass or whatever I can say that I like good music in whatever style it may manifest itself. This is good stuff, whether you just want to sit back and relax and enjoy it or if you want to dance around (well not me but I can't dance) or whatever.

The lighting was "on" lots of red gels and nothing fancy going on. It was bright enough I was able to shoot at 800 ISO a lot but it was so red I had to do it in B/W to get decent results. I need to work on getting more full band type shots but for that I need a much wider angle fast lens. It's too bad they don't make a 15mm f1.4 or something. And when I do full band I always have to deal with that columm in front of the stage and all the mic stands. Whenever I see a shot where every member is in focus and nothing is obstructing them I always wonder if maybe it's a "staged" shot.
