Combichrist
One of the reasons I
love doing what I do is I get to see bands like this, I had no idea
who Combichrist was, hell I didn't even know it was Combichrist when
they came out on stage. (Snow Black who were supposed to be the first
band cancelled). So there I was, thankfully I had my earplugs in as
they started as I was standing by the stacks, and they were going so
hard my clothes were flowing as if blown by gale force winds. Yeah they
were loud, but more importantly they were primal. I guess they are technically
EBM or Industrial or something, hell I can't keep track of all the labels
they have for styles anymore. All I know is I liked it.
Before the show I was told I could use flash, wow. Flash? yeah whatever
I hate flash, but as it turns out it came in handy for the night. They
had no front lighting and a shitload of strobes going off. which made
a for a great looking show but was for shit on shooting. So I took out
the flash and tried my hand at concert flash photography. Sadly I didn't
get the hang of it during Combichrist for the most part, but I did much
better when KMFDM came out a bit later. So even though I was dissapointed
with the results of flash at first I still posted some of the results.
Hell they bring back fonds memories for me at least. Btw, Combichrist
goes all out for their show they beat the shit out of some drum sticks
and by the end of the set the
drums are strewn about the stage, even the keyboards are not immune
to the mayhem. The lead singer grabbed the keyboard off the stand and
tossed it across the stage during the last song. I'm not sure what the
guy who was playing them at the time felt about this, and I wonder how
many keyboards they'll go through this tour. Probably a lot if they
play this intense every night.
