The Aquabats

Saturday morning on Thursday night, It's the Aquabats. They put on a show for all ages, complete with bad guys and cartoon video clips. Unfortunately though they played the Red Room instead of the main room at the Meridian. Despite that it was a fun show.
I cannot stress enough how much a pain in the ass it is to shoot the red room. As you can see from the pics, the crowd is practically on the stage so it's almost impossible to get frontal shots. I mean if you can get to the front of the stage through the throngs of people moshing, you are about 2 feet away from a band member.. hence why there are a couple of really close up shots of the bassist and his guitar. The side is almost as bad but that's because the hot lights and angle.. And yeah thats their heads all of 18 inches from the ceiling. I probably wouldn't have bothered trying to shoot this if it wasn't for the fact that I like the band.

The encore saw a mad rush to the stage and it filled up with fans all dancing, it was amazing the platform didn't collapse. I think it's cool as hell that they are laid back enough to let the fans up on the stage. I was even more impressed that the guys in the band really seem to like their fans. The go out of their way to to involve them in the show, It's as if it's a party they are playing for a group of friends and not just a run of the mill concert.
