Type O Negative

It's been a few years since I saw Type O Negative, and quite frankly I didn't even know they were still touring. One of the early times I saw them was when they were opening for Queensryche at the Cynthia Woods Pavilion ( a place I despise to begin with) and they had Type O Negative start before the sun set.. Worse than that the sun was setting right against them, so the were blinded and fully illuminated in those black leather outfits already uncomfortable I can imagine, in the hot humid houston clime. It was so wrong, this is a band that should never see the light of day if you know what I mean. It's like watching Marilyn Manson play at Disneyland, it just should not be. I want my goth metal in as dark a place as possible.. As long as they give me some damn stage lights so I can shoot this shit. That for the most part didn't happen at this show. But that was the least of annoyances that crept up. When I get there they have noted that we can shoot the last 3 songs of the Type O set, not the first 3 like EVERY OTHER BAND IN THE FRICKING UNIVERSE! Seriously the LAST 3? what the fuck is up with that? How do we know what the last 3 songs are? Does that include possible encores? Ok fine we'll look at the setlist on the stage I figure and since I know the songs I can just start shooting when they start playing that song from the list.. This would have been nice had they actually stayed the set list but no, they had to mix it up some and play stuff all out of order.

They could have said, start shooting after the 3 or maybe even the 4th full band break of the hour and a half set (seriously they took a lot of breaks) Now in their defense Peter looked like he felt like shit. His voice was weak, and he was coughing a fair amount and the most telling of all he had a O2 tank stashed on the side of the stage. As the show went on he took more and more time sitting in front of the drum riser playing his bass. So I guess I have to hand it to the guy he still played a show instead of cancelling when he was not feeling well. Either way it was good to see them again and in the proper setting. A dark damp club.
