Nightwish This was the last show I'd been looking forward to for the year, nothing else on the schedule peaked my interest. But Nightwish? Oh yeah. I was hoping that someone would remember to turn on some lights so I could get a few shots while I was watching the band. My wish came true, they cranked the house lights and I was able to get some fairly well lit photos. Now I know they have a new lead female singer and there is always that debate about who is better the old singer or the new, but I never had the fortune of catching the old lineup so I had nothing to compare. So for my experience I was pleased at just how damn good they sounded. A lot, and I mean a lot of the fans I talked to said that they had seen them in San Antonio and the Dallas the previous two nights. Every once in awhile I catch some people who hit multiple dates of a tour like that (Buckethead seems to have a fair amount of fans like that) but never before had I met so many who were catching every show in the state. I also met a bunch of people from all over the world, Nightwish pulled in people from France, Germany and all over Europe who now live in Texas. On a side note the folks I talked to after the show said the Houston gig was the best of the three. After an incredible show the band again showed us class that you just don't see in most bands anymore. The all jumped off stage and shook hands and mingled with the audience, before getting back up and taking the final bow. I don't know if it's indicative of all the Finnish and Swedish bands or what but not only is every one I've seen been musically adept but they ALL seems to care about their fans and do their best to meet them and interact with them. Classy all the way. To sum up. Nightwish rocks, and they
really seem to enjoy themselves and the fans and band feeds off each other
for energy. Catch em if you can, whether you have opinions about who's
lead now or not. |
