Mushroomhead This was the 3rd time I've shot a Mushroomhead show. It was nice shooting them at the Warehouse Live since that venue seems to have a real live lighting person who they've actually given a light setup to. In that aspect I was in pure heaven ( A slight overkill of orange lights but as close to lighting heaven as we can ask for I guess) My impression of the venue is great design and setup, great lighting, crappy tinny sound and a lack of soul or "vibe" to it. It didn't have the relaxed feel to it like a big family that I generally associate with the Meridian. It's not dis on the venue per se and I'd certainly enjoy shooting there again but it's definitely a different feel to place. I enjoyed the overall shows of Mushroomhead at the Meridian more overall though. Speaking enjoying the show, I have
to stress again just how much I like this band. The music is actually
quite good and, they have stage presence in ton. Too few bands these days
know how to put on a good show all the way around. I can listen to the
music on CD anytime but when I check out a band live I want it to be something
more than what I'd experience by putting on my headphones and listening
to the CD again. I want it to be aurally and visually engaging. Show us
why we paid that money and drove downtown on a Saturday night. After seeing
them a few times now I say check them out whenever you get the chance.
And then after the show try to hang around and meet them. They do try
to make themselves available to the fans and from what I've seen, appreciate
them. I've seen a lot of bands that say "thank you and goodnight"
and head off the stage and onto the bus. First time I saw Mushroomhead,
after the show they split up and went to opposite sides of the stage and
signed autographs and posed for pictures for a good 20 minutes or more
before the next band took the stage. If you're patient they'll eventually
make it out to mingle after a show from what I can tell. It takes a bit
since getting costumes and makeup off takes some doing. |
