Before these guys played
a couple of people told me that I'd really enjoy them and they'd be good
to photo. They were entirely correct. This is one of those bands that
if they can get a few songs on the radio at some point will be headlining
before long. Everyone in the band exhibits character and gives a good
performance, From the guitarist to the gregarious bass player each makes
themselves known on the stage. They are as much into their audience as
the audience is into them. You have to keep in mind the place was filled
with people to see Breaking Benjamin yet, they sang along, and yelled
louder than you would ever expect a crowd would do for the first band
on. They kind of reminded of a harder rocking version of Canvas out of
Austin. Real Lyrics and emotions rather than cookie cutter crap. Hell
I may have liked these guys the best in the lineup, actually I'm pretty
sure I did.
The lighting was heavily
tinged red so I fell back on shooting Black and White with a red filter
for a lot of shots. But I shot more of this band than I did of Breaking
Benjamin and Smile. Partly because each member was worth the time to get
several shots of. The Bass player was having fun and was a blast to capture
he was also in the best light. the bald guitarist only stepped enough
into the light for maybe one or two shots, which was unfortunate. Anyway
this ended up being another shoot where the bass got steal the limelight.
I also managed to get a couple of 10-20mm shots that came out ok considering
how slow that lens is.
